July 3, 2008 15 DAYS in MAY PHOTOS to go on Display at the West Sacramento Historical Society Museum and Visitors Bureau
Contact: Jim Brewer, 916-617-2288 Everyone will have an opportunity to view the City of West Sacramento's tenth annual photo winners from the 15 DAYS in MAY contest when the winning photographs are displayed at the West Sacramento Historical Society Museum and Visitors Bureau beginning Saturday, July 12. The museum in partnership with the West Sacramento Art Guild coordinated with the City of West Sacramento to display the works. The contest invited amateur photographers to take photographs of West Sacramento between May 1 and 15 and then submit them for various categories in the contest. The categories were Residents Under 18, Residents 18-55, Residents Over 55, Working in West Sacramento, Nonresidents, and Image of Health. There were 682 entries but only 18 winning photographs received monetary awards plus three honorable mention winners received three month memberships to "15th Street Fitness. The 15 DAYS in MAY exhibition is sponsored by the City of West Sacramento in association with The News-Ledger, The West Sacramento Press, Carwen Printers, and the 15th Street Fitness. The exhibit will close on Friday, August 8, 2008. As part of this display, the West Sacramento Art Guild in partnership with the West Sacramento Historical Society Museum and Visitors Center will host a Second Saturday event and reception for this exhibit at the museum on Saturday, July 12, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Refreshments and music will be provided and the event is free.
