"Our Journey" (WSHS Exhibits)
May 2008 to Summer 2009
The Latino exhibition, "Our Journey," is the second in a series of exhibitions at the museum highlighting the various cultures comprising West Sacramento. The first such exhibition focused on "The Sikhs of West Sacramento." This new display will explore and honor the richness of the Latino community in West Sacramento by identifying Latino families, individuals, social organizations and businesses that help define our community. "Why did Latino's settle in West Sacramento?" "Did they immigrate from Mexico and Central America or did they immigrate from other states during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression periods?" "How many generations of families remain here?"
These and other questions will be answered in this exhibition which opened in May 2008. Please contact the Historical Society if you would like to participate in any way in the new exhibit. (click on image to see exhibit poster)

School Exhibits
River City High School students show art
WSHS is reaching out to the community through the schools. Our goal is to provide a historical context for the growth and activities in our city and to capture the interest of the school children. In January 2008, the first of many school exhibits was installed at the Westmore Oaks Elementary School in West Sacramento. A photo of the exhibit is below.
Future Exhibits
Continuing "Our Journey" will be displays of the diverse cultural communities in West Sacramento. Please contact the Historical Society if you would like to participate in any way in the exhibits.
