In the early days of West Sacramento, people either had a farm or worked
on a farm. The only kind of employment opportunities related generally
to farming such as harvesting and storage of crops or delivering milk.
Being the "produce basket" for Sacramento and having a solid agricultural
base helped this area grow and sustain itself during the depression years.
People may have had hard times earning money, but there was always food and
shelter shared within these agricultural communities.
