Turn to the left to read about the encased model of the steamboat Lawrence.

The large map on the wall to the right is the plat for the township of Washington. When the new community applied for a post office, they were told that a town named Washington already existed in California - so the post office was named "Broderick" to memorialize CA and US Senator David C. Broderick. Over time the community began to refer to this area as Broderick.
