Dave Westin also gave an enthusiastic description of the discovery, the theft, the police investigation, and tracking the safe down through the antique community. Dave said that the antique appraiser dated the safe from 1910 - 1920. When the locksmith took off the lock casing, he determined that the lock itself was from the l930's. The safe was valued between $10,000 - 20,000 on the antiques/collectibles market.

The only contents was a balance sheet from the California Dehydration Co dated l977.
